04 — Border posts

The major crossings.

The principal border posts along the routes we run. Each is operated by separate national authorities — knowing the local procedures and the people on the ground is what keeps cargo moving.

ZM ↔ ZW

Chirundu

One-stop border post between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The principal southern crossing on the Great North Road and the busiest cargo gateway between the two countries.

ZM ↔ CD

Kasumbalesa

The Copperbelt crossing into the DRC. The lifeline border for mining cargo into and out of Lualaba and Haut-Katanga provinces.

ZW ↔ ZA

Beit Bridge

The principal southern African border between Zimbabwe and South Africa. The key chokepoint on the North-South corridor — congestion here moves the whole timeline.

ZM ↔ NA

Sesheke / Katima Mulilo

Bridge crossing between Zambia and Namibia on the Trans-Caprivi corridor. The natural gateway for Walvis Bay cargo into Zambia.

ZM ↔ BW

Kazungula

The bridge crossing between Zambia and Botswana — replacing the historical ferry crossing. Critical for Trans-Kalahari cargo and the Lusaka-Gaborone lane.

BW ↔ ZA

Pioneer Gate / Skilpadshek

The principal cargo crossing between Botswana and South Africa, handling Trans-Kalahari corridor cargo onward to Johannesburg and the Durban port hinterland.
